Florian Widmann

Baritone

The Tyrolean-born Florian Widmann is a graduate of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG), where he completed his studies in vocal pedagogy with a focus on choral and ensemble conducting, as well as a master’s degree in voice with Martin Klietmann and a master’s degree in concert singing (art song and oratorio) with Robert Heimann and Joseph Breinl, each with distinction. To further his education, he attended masterclasses with Bo Skovhus, Marjana Lipovšek, and Angelika Kirchschlager.

He was a finalist in the Gradus ad Parnassum youth music competition, a recipient of the KUG Award of Excellence, and a scholarship holder at the American Institute of Musical Studies. Additionally, he was awarded at the international singing competition Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg.

Widmann has gained extensive stage experience at the Lehár Festival in Bad Ischl, the Coburg Summer Operetta, and the Leoben City Theater. His repertoire includes roles such as Count von Eberbach in Der Wildschütz, Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus, and Johannes in the bass arias of a staged production of St. John Passion. He has also performed as Pish-Tush in The Mikado, Josef in Wiener Blut, Bill Calhoun/Lucentio in Kiss Me, Kate, Gustl in The Land of Smiles, Boni in The Csárdás Princess, Calicot in Madame Pompadour, and Guglielmo in Così fan tutte.

As a concert singer, he has appeared in various oratorios and cantatas, as well as in art song and operetta recitals both in Austria and abroad. His repertoire includes bass roles in Mozart’s Requiem, Bach’s Magnificat, and Schumann’s Paradise and the Peri, among others.

In addition to his work as a vocal coach and singing teacher at the Kindberg and Feldbach music schools, as well as for the Choral Association of Styria, he leads the children’s choir, the youth vocal ensemble, and the vocal ensemble at the Kindberg Music School.
