Zhanna Ivanova

Viola

Zhanna Ivanova was born in Crimea, Russia. At the age of eight she started her violin lessons with Nina Batischeva.

From 1991 to 1995 she studied violin at the conservatory “B. Lyatoschinskiy ”in Charkov and from 1995 to 2000 at the Charkov University of Art with Leonid Zeide and Leonid Holodenko,  where she graduated with honors.

From 2000 to 2003 she was a member of the Charkov Philharmonic Orchestra.

Since 2003 she studied violin with Silvia Markovici and chamber music with Stephan Görner at the Graz University of Art. Furthermore, from 2005 she studied viola with Christian Euler and graduated with honors in January 2010. In the same year she received the Dr. Karl Böhm grant from the city of Graz.

She has participated in numerous master classes, including Tibor Varga, Saveliy Schallmann, Lidia Schutko, Gerard Poulet and Lewis Kaplan.

Zhanna Ivanova has won numerous national competitions. She has performed numerous concerts across Europe and has participated in the Stellenbosch Chamber Music Festival in South Africa.

During her studies, she played in various orchestras, including the Graz Symphonic Orchestra, the “recreation – Large Orchestra Graz”, the Tonkünstler Orchestra Vienna and the Graz Chamber Orchestra.

She is a violist in the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra since 2007 and has been appointed as a viola lecturer at the University of Art in Graz since 2019.
